A new big purchase

Posted on | July 24, 2009 | No Comments

So, I’ve been eyeing the netbooks at Best Buy for a few weeks now…okay….maybe more like a week. Today, I went and purchased a Gateway netbook. The real main reason for my purchase, is that unlike some people who eat when they get depressed, I shop. In fact, I almost lose my appetite altogether. So hopefully this little thing will help lift me out of my funk. I’ll not be opening it tonight, after little to no sleep last night due to the storms in the area, I’ll probably clock out early. So tomorrow, I’ll tackle my new little computer. I tested it out, and the Athlon 64 processor inside seems to run well with the 2GB of memory. It’s one of the larger netbooks out there, with half the weight of my heavy duty work laptop. I won’t in all likely hood be carrying around the power adaptor and wacom tablet with this baby.  It will solely be for surfing the web, and taking notes and stuff while I’m out and on the go.

I’ll probably do another post later down the road as a review on the Gateway.

UPDATE: As of this evening, I have my new glasses which I will attempt to start wearing tomorrow. No matter how much it ‘pains’ me to do so. And my jury summons date moved from Monday to Tuesday, will have to call again Monday night to see if it changes again.

General Update to My Miserable Life

Posted on | July 23, 2009 | No Comments

So several things have happened in the last few months. The primary one being that I’ve been in miserable pain. First I did something to my neck and shoulders and then about three weeks ago, I popped my jaw and now my whole face hurts.

Second thing was that I’ve been to see two eye doctors and as of yet, I haven’t found a prescription that works RIGHT! I’m waiting to hear back from LensCrafters on the second prescription being filled by the second eye doctor. Every time I try a new prescription, I get the feeling of being cross-eyed, headaches and massive eye strain. I’m sorry, I can’t live like that and do my work. I’m online close to 14 hours a day on average.  So I’m still using my old prescription, which really seems to work just fine. Thank you!

Outside of all that, work hasn’t been too stellar. I won’t go into details, but since last week, I’ve been severely depressed, and to top it all off, I got a letter in the mail saying “You’ve been summoned to Federal Jury Duty.” Wooh freakin’ who! *please note the sarcasm* I go in Monday morning.

The last two things to note have been my attempts at writing again and my attempts at flirtation. I’m doing okay at the former, but sucking at the latter. I’ve gotten about 20,000 words written this month, which for me is awesome even if the story probably stinks like a pig farm.  As to the flirting, I’m just too introverted to make any real push to see if something could come of it, and I don’t want to turn into a net stalker to track them down and friend them via Facebook or Twitter.

Oh, and one other tidbit is that I’m not doing too bad at bowling.  A few weeks ago, I even bowled my best score ever of 197. I was this close (imagine thumb and first finger just millimeters apart) to making the 200 mark. Pooh, but I screwed up the last frame. Shrugs, oh well.

Anyone else doing okay out there?

My <3 Belongs to Chipotle Mexican Grill

It’s like week 10 and I think I’ve been to Chipotle Mexican Grill once a week (seriously, I probably have). I’m in love with their Barbacoa Burrito. Spicy and oh so tasty! The burrito is weighty enough and substantial for me to make it into two meals — dinner and lunch the next day (or breakfast if I can’t wait).

I’ve recommended it to all my friends, especially those who’ve never heard of it.  My only complaint is the nearest one is like 10 miles or more away. Why can’t it be like McDonald’s and be almost on every corner?!

Seriously, if you like spicy foods and you have a Chipotle located nearby, GO!

He swore on his mother’s grave, but then he swore on just about everything. Mark was also a habitual liar. It was no wonder that he had a rap sheet with the Detriot police a mile long. He was constantly in and out of jail for gambling and conning people out of their money. He wasn’t one of the professionals who could lie and get away with it. Invariably something on his face or voice gave him away.

He knew exactly how he fell into being a con. It had come naturally to him. From as little as he can remember himself being, he had lied to everyone he came across — well, everyone except his mother. He remember’s his best friend Bernie saying, “There you go, making up lies again.” Actually, that’s what they all told him. They all knew he lied, he just couldn’t help himself. So he tried to take that ability and parlay it into a job. He didn’t go the legit route of course, into advertising as many people said he’d be perfect for. Instead he wanted to use his skills for purely selfish, individual gain.

Mark also recalls the very last time he told the honest truth. He had scored big on a scam with a local grocery store, so he was flush with funds. He called him mom and invited her to dinner. As he was saying goodnight to her after driving her home, he told her, “I love ya, Ma.” She died not two days later from a heart attack. He had no one else to tell the truth to after that.
