About Chark
I’m the web presence known as Chark (pronounced as ’shark’ for those of you not already in the know) and I have been active on the web since the early 90s. I’m a web designer who currently works for a recruitment and staffing firm called Headway Corporate Resources. Prior to that I worked for about six months with Alberta Justice as a Web Development Officer. The longest I’ve worked for anyone was Transcena Design, over 7 years of doing pretty much anything and everything within the company (except managing the books and reeling in the clients). From creating websites, answering the phones, and making hotel reservations.
I spent almost 10 years in Alberta, Canada. And the country and weather are gorgeous [the month and a half it's not cold
]. But the home in my heart has always been North Carolina.
Reinvention
I’ve recreated myself and my site many times over. From software changes to subdomain creation and disintegration and general change in tone and theme of content. I’ve once again changed my theme for this WordPress blog and have gone for a more stark and clean/lean look. It suits how I’m feeling about myself these days. I also wanted to showcase some of my pictures in black and white. I love B&W, it has such a timelessness about it.
The History Behind the Name
Chark was a name given to me by my lovely friend, Brian (aka Zaph from the CUSeeMe days when video conferencing was in its infancy) by sheer dumb luck genius. Long story short, it all has to do with me hunting down a fellow CUer from one computer lab to another and having the theme music from ‘Jaws’ being played by Brian in the background. “Chark Attack” indeed! MacLab (affectionately known in real life as Scott) turned around as I walked in the door and called out to me as ‘Chark,’ I liked it and so it stuck.
Varied Interests
This site will be dedicated to my many and varied interests, such as writing, scrapping (digital scrapbooks), photography, and anything other odd moments that come to mind. So be on the look out, you never know what might come from my fertile and fevered imagination.
The Real Me
For the rest of you, I’m known as Charlene Yount Runge, daughter to Charles and Shirley Yount and friend to a dedicated few (for which I humbly thank you for staying true).
