Troubled by spam messages….

EDIT X2: Found it, thanks to a discussion board at Google Groups. So, profound thanks to all the diligent people there who investigated the problem behind this issue.

EDIT: So, it’s not the deactivated plug-ins and I’ve switched themes. I remain at a loss still. Will have to continue searching for this culprit.

A friend noticed via Google Reader that my latest blog post entry had a spam prescription drug message before the original post began. I’ve tried tracking it down to a possible spam comment or corrupt code. But doing an actual scan for the drug message through all the files and through the database yielded no answers. Perhaps it’s a script that is being run when the RSS feed is generated? I looked at the RSS feed through Firefox and it appears just fine, no spam messages. But searching through Bing, turned up the same message and it’s always before the entry for the current post. Or is now ‘cached’ and appears in old posts when doing a search.

So I’m troubled. My next step has been to disable all plug-ins that aren’t essential or vital to the loading of the site. I know it’s not the latest plug-in that I installed as it appeared before that occurred. So I’m doing a test with this message. If it still appears, even after disabling most of the plugins, I have no idea what I’m going to do. Any insights into this would be helpful.
