A month of better living

I’ve now been going to the gym for a month, and I feel a lot better physically. Some days my energy output seems off the charts. In addition to the thrice weekly visits, I’ve now been going for 20 to 30 minute walks each day during lunch or around dinner time (sometimes doing both). The only thing that hasn’t changed much is my eating habits. Actually my weight hasn’t changed either. Which given the last year, is an improvement. No gain or change is better than nothing. Of course, with exercising I gotta remember it’s not in the pounds it’s in the inches.  Hopefully I’ll be decreasing the inches soon.

Work has been doing a walking program to help improve their employees health. The office as a whole is trying to walk the entire distance from one office to the next. From Raleigh to Las Vegas, from there to Newport Beach up to New York City, and then down along the eastern seaboard back to Raleigh. After a two week period, the office had almost reached the Las Vegas office.  I’ve tried to average about 10,000 steps each day. Some days are better than others, with good weather and motiviation being key. Rainy weather is just not conducive to getting those steps in (would rather sit in front of the tv with a cup of hot chocolate).

When winter comes, gotta hit the gym every day if I can. Just have to make sure I stay motivated even when it’s dark out when I get home from work.
