That's shark, with a 'C'! Blogging by Charlene Runge

Despite my career, I’m not a surfer!

It’s ironic that being a web designer/developer, I honestly don’t ‘surf’ the web all that much. I have the places I visit on a daily basis, and I typically don’t veer from the path (see my Daily Site links on the left). I’m a creature of habit. I do go out and look for ideas to fuel my designs and coding to help me get a website running according to what the client wants, but beyond that… Shrugs!

So where do I go for ideas? Templatemonster.com is awesome for giving me ideas on what graphics/photos to use, what colors work well together and what seems to be popular for layout in general. I know, why am I looking at the competition for inspiration? They have soooo many templates for so many areas on the web, it’s a great collection of designs and well, I’m lazy. As for coding, I just use the old Google search. I’m pretty decent at searching, finding what I need usually within the first page of links Google feels inclined to send my way.

I was asked a question the other day at a job interview on what sites/blogs I visit for information in doing my job. I have no set place. I have come across a few sites that I thought were awesome, but in my hurry in looking for something truly specific, I forgot to bookmark it. Oh well, C’est La Vie!

But I’m straying from my point, I don’t surf for miscellaneous things. I visit the sites I know and often. However, I’m not adverse to visiting websites people send me links to, so if you have something you think I’d be interested in, send it my way!
