WOTD – May 19th, 2005: untoward
Posted on | May 19, 2005 | No Comments
untoward: not favorable or fortunate; also, improper. (adj)
When the sound of a window breaking reached Mary’s ears, she sighed at her son, Jack’s, untoward behavior. This would now make it the third time this week he had done something wrong and would need to be punished. Perhaps her method of punishment needed changing. She had tried the time-out methods, and she had been afraid to try the ‘corporal’ punishment methods parents of today feared to use. But perhaps a spanking is what it would take to make her son listen and learn, because heaven help her, her patience with Jack was running thin.
